Can I beat the moon
Before it crosses

LOS NUMEROS
The Gulf exploded last week. Activity on the airwaves is at an
all time high - and that includes Numbers transmissions. I've
heard from many of you and other readers of the notable increase
in Numbers broadcasts, in particular, Phonetic Alphabet Stations
which are reportedly operated by the Mossad.
Here's a run-down on the various phonetic stations that have
been heard by numerous contributors in recent days. I haven't
included the times because these stations are running virtually
around the clock! Check at 15 past and 15 before the hour for
'channel markers'. These typically broadcast the phonetic
callsign and the number 'Two'. This appears to be an indicator
that there is 'no traffic' to pass. Others appear on the hour
or on the half-hour with their traffic.

Plenty of other Numbers traffic, as well. Get those loggings in!
We want to hear from you.
RACING WITH THE MOON
It appears that air crews are scribbling messages to Saddam
on the ordnance carried by US aircraft on bombing missions
over Iraq. This is a tradition that goes back many years -
and provides a humorous outlet for some of the boys. A
great message thread was started on GEnie by 'MASTERWERKS'
who submitted these great ideas for the "Put Your Message
On A Bomb" campaign, entitled "Love Letters to Saddam!
For all you do Sadaam, this bombs for you!
We care to send the very best...Made In The USA
Gooooooooood morning Iraq!
Was it good for you?
A mighty big present, For our friend Sadaam.
Have a blast, it will be your last.
We love you to pieces.
Ding Dong Air Force Calling...
Chicken Little _was_ right. The sky _is_ falling.
Hammertime. Can't touch this.
This bomb is recyclable. Please don't litter.
At the sound of the blast, please leave your name and number.
One lump or two?
Go ahead and eat it. We'll make more.
This object may be closer than it appears.
(Picture of Ed McMahon) You may have won $10 million dollars!
Its falling and you won't get up!
Good to the last drop.
Your tax dollars at work. 8-)

Smile, you're on CNN!
Home of the Whopper.
Uncle Sam wants _you_ Sadaam!
Open wide and say "Allah!"
Tammy Faye loves you. She really, really does.
HM's E-MAIL RECEPTION REPORT OF THE MONTH
To: havanamoon@cup.portal.com
From: brewer@ace.enet.dec.com
Subject: Numbers and stuff...
Well, the 7422 YL numbers station is on again tonight... a marathon
program too! 4x numbers groups @ 0400+
Had an idea about the 7413 cw sigs... wonder if its diminished signal
strength is due to seasonal path differences? If the strength
rises with the fading of the DX season this spring, I would guess
its location is closer to here than originally thought? Just an
guess tho... they sure have been pumping out the traffic recently
if you have noticed...

-----
Your suggestion about seasonal path differences is intriguing.
It might pay to listen to that station (who can help it!) come
the springtime shift, John. Keep me posted. And yes - I have
noticed!
